West Power Energy strives to provide engineering services to public and private utility companies, consultants, as well as contractors taking part in the design and construction of power generation facilities, transmission lines, and substations, across the United States and Canada. West Power Energy is looking for a Human Resource Generalist to join the Human Resources team in our greater Vancouver area office in Burnaby. The successful candidate will report directly to the Human Resources Director and will assist him with the day-to-day tasks with a further description and responsibilities below.

West Power Energy is looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in Burnaby, BC. The successful candidate will primarily assist in routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering daily employee-related workflow, benefits, and PTO, maintaining employee records, and enforcing company policies and practices with important duties and sensitive information on a day-to-day basis. Ensure the smooth running of the HR-relevant tasks, working both on a one-to-one basis with our HR Director and also on a wider basis with internal team members and external clients. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties assigned by senior management:

The successful candidate will primarily assist in routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering daily employee-related workflow, benefits, and PTO, maintaining employee records, and enforcing company policies and practices with important duties and sensitive information on a day-to-day basis. Ensure the smooth running of the HR-relevant tasks, working both on a one-to-one basis with our HR Director and also on a wider basis with internal team members and external clients. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties assigned by senior management:
HR Administration Responsibilities:
- Prepare job descriptions for relevant positions before any hire
- Sourcing and reviewing resumes, recommending and shortlisting applicants, scheduling interviews, preparing interview summaries for the hiring manager, and supporting hiring new staff into the organization
- Welcome new employees to the organization by conducting orientation
- Support all employees by answering their questions about HR regulations and benefits, recording and tracking grievances, and reporting to management as needed
- Track employee progress within the onboarding program, train them on the ADP timesheet/time recording process, and work with ADP to resolve any issues and inquiries from employees
- Maintain and update employee information/files within our ADP database
- Support various HR projects, including researching market trends and analysis for compensation and benefit
- Prepare and update reports for the leadership team and maintain them in the HR Database
- Track and ensure all employee’s PTO is accurate (vacation and sick days)
- Plan and coordinate employee events such as recognition awards and engagement activities
- Collect and verify candidate information including background checks
- Other relevant duties assigned by senior management & and the Leadership Team
- Relevant 3 years of Human Resources experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other relevant fields
- Possess excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Possess unflinching ethical standards, strong self-motivation, and the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian labor laws
- Interest in keeping up on trends, practices, and updates in HR both domestically and globally
- Ability to work with employees and managers at all levels of the organization
- Possess excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
- Possess high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS TEAMS
- Knowledge of the ADP platform is preferred
- Experience in full-cycle recruitment is preferred
- Knowledge of Visio is a plus
